BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 16. An agreement was signed between the 'Discover Azerbaijan' travel company of Azerbaijan and the 'Transavia' express airline company of Tajikistan, Trend reports.

The signing of the memorandum was held at the Embassy of Tajikistan in Baku with the participation of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Tajikistan to Azerbaijan Rustam Soli.

"This is the first cooperation agreement between an Azerbaijani travel company and a Tajik airline. The goal of this cooperation is to attract tourists from Azerbaijan to Tajikistan," Rustam Soli said at the signing ceremony.

According to him, Tajikistan has a significant tourism potential due to its picturesque mountains and lakes, thereby attracting people who are fond of active recreation.

The ambassador said that Azerbaijan is of interest to tourists from Tajikistan due to its diverse natural and cultural sights that attract travelers from all over the world.

Moreover, Rustam Soli noted the importance for both countries of the first direct flight from Azerbaijan to the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, which the Azerbaijani Buta Airways airline performed in May 2023.

The number of tourists from Tajikistan to Azerbaijan amounted to 2,736 people in 2022. In 2020 a total number of 1,483 tourists traveled to Azerbaijan from Tajikistan, and only 820 tourists visited the country in 2021.
