Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 1

By Elmira Tariverdiyeva - Trend:

The observers, who arrived in Azerbaijan to monitor the election, saw a prosperous country where citizens expect a very important election day, Lidia Yermoshina, the head of the Central Election Commission of Belarus, told Trend Nov. 1.

"It seemed that there is the insufficient pre-election campaign in the city, but this is a problem of the candidates," she said.

"If the voters do not have any special need, then this is a normal pre-election situation. Together with my colleagues from other CIS countries, I think that the election will be held in a quiet and friendly atmosphere."

The parliamentary election is being held in Azerbaijan Nov. 1.

Some 503 international observers from 40 organizations and over 66,000 local observers monitor the parliamentary election in Azerbaijan. Some 767 candidates claim for 125 seats in the Azerbaijani parliament.
