Azerbaijan, Baku, August 30 /Trend, M.Aliyev/

The Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan has confirmed the capture of a serviceman of the Azerbaijani Army Roman Huseynov.
There is a probability that the Azerbaijani serviceman was captured, losing the way, deputy head of the press service of Azerbaijani Defense Ministry Teymur Abdullayev told Trend.

Armenian media outlets reported the capture of Roman Huseynov, born in 1985.

The Baku Office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) began investigating rumors that Azerbaijani Junior Sergeant Roman Huseynov was captured recently by the Armenian armed forces.

The Yerevan Office of the ICRC was asked to clarify rumors in Armenian media that Huseynov was captured on Aug. 27, the ICRC Baku Office told Trend earlier.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the United States - are currently holding the peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
