Russia will continue promoting a convergence of the positions of the parties of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict together with other co-chairmen of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at the 19th meeting of OSCE Ministerial Council today.

"We see no other variants of resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, except for the peace negotiations between the parties of the conflict," he said. "The co-chairmen's proposals on this issue are known."

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France and the U.S. - are currently holding peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.

The role and importance of the Caspian region are discussed in the Caspian forum, which is organized by Caspian Strategy Institute and held in Istanbul on Dec.6.
