Baltic Assembly urge OSCE to intensify its activities

Baltic Assembly called OSCE Minsk Group for taking more active steps, Vice-President of the Baltic Assembly Raymond Deonis said at the 5th meeting of GUAM Parliamentary Assembly in an expanded format in Baku on Wednesday.

According to him, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must be solved urgently.

"The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must find a speedy solution for establishment of regional peace and stability. OSCE Minsk Group dedicated to solving this conflict failed to make progress, so it should increase its efforts for the soonest peaceful settlement of the conflict", - Deonis said.

According to him, opinions of people affected by the conflict must be taken into account during the settlement of the conflict

Vice-President of the Baltic Assembly also said that the problems in Georgia and Moldova have to find a solution within the framework of the territorial integrity of these countries.
Deonis also noted that the Baltic Assembly is interested in expanding ties with GUAM. He, in particular, expressed his support for comprehensive development of economic relations in the Caspian, Black and Baltic Seas.

President of the Benelux Parliament Jack Biskop stated that his organization attaches a great importance to the cooperation with GUAM on migration.

According to Deputy Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Cezary Grabarczyk, Poland intends to develop comprehensive ties with GUAM, in particular in the fields of transport, economy and tourism. Grabarczyk also mentioned that Poland supports the European integration of GUAM.

To improve the integration between the countries of GUAM and achieve real results various projects should be implemented and there is a great potential for this, chairman of GUAM PA, Azerbaijani MP Elton Mammadov said.

"This will also contribute to improvement of communications and security in the region", Mammadov said

The heads of delegations of Georgia, Moldova and Bulgaria have also noted the intensification of efforts to enhance the role of GUAM in the international arena and to increase cooperation with other regional organizations.
