Afghanistan, Kabul, 9 September /corr. Trend A.Hakimi / The report by Human Rights Watching says that the facts of deaths of peaceful civilians during the military operations in Afghanistan nearly tripled from 2006 to 2007.
"In the first seven months of 2008 during the operations of coalition forces in Afghanistan 580 innocent civilians perished," official representative of the independent Commission on Human Rights, Nadir Nadiri, told Trend .
Human Rights Watch found few civilian deaths resulted from planned airstrikes, while almost all deaths occurred in unplanned airstrikes.
The Human Rights Watching report says that rapid response airstrikes have meant higher civilian casualties, while every bomb dropped in populated areas amplifies the chance of a mistake. The organization finds coalition forces and rebels as guilty of civilian deaths.
The report also condemns the rebels' use of "human shields" in violation of the laws of war, and the USA for not providing timely necessary assistance to the civilians during the airstrikes.
"Mistakes by the US and NATO have dramatically decreased public support for the Afghan government and the presence of international forces providing security to Afghans," said David Adams, Chairman of Human Rights Watch.
The forces of the USA stated that obtained new proofs that the number of innocent civilians, who was killed during the airstrike in the village of Azizabad of the Shendend City of Herat region, is more. Earlier the forces of the USA said that during the air attack to village of Azizabad of the Shendend City seven people died. The report of Afghan Government and United Nations indicated that during the attack of the forces of the USA to this village, 90 innocent civilians perished. The majorities of those been killed there were woman and children. In spite of the desire of Afghan government to avoid the facts of the murdering of innocent civilians during the air attacks of coalition forces, their number is still very much.
Nadiri accused the government of absence of specific program on this issue and conducting uncoordinated operations. According to him, the deaths of civilians until recently in no way disturbed the Government of Afghanistan.
