Georgia, Tbilisi, 27 September / Trend corr. N.Kirtzkhalia /  "The Georgian authorities should actively work over placing the European Union (EU) observers not only beyond the conflict zones, but also in conflict zones. However, at present I know exactly that the government of the country have other priorities," Nino Burjanadze, the ex-speaker of the Georgian Parliament, said.

"Currently, only economy is a priority direction for the Georgian Government. Surely, it is necessary to take care of refugees and everything should be done in order people to feel less difficulties. However, representatives of authorities begin all negotiations from economic problems, while at present Georgia's first task is to prevent Russia from strengthening its position in Abkhazia and South Ossetia," the ex-speaker said.

"We should make every effort to prevent placement of the Russian base, as well as their legitimatization and strengthening there. However, as you see, the definite part of the authorities accepted loss of Abkhazia and South Ossetia and firstly, seeks to avoid people not to protest because of economic problems," Burjanadze said.
