"Principles of joint action of parties which are included in the opposition Movement for Garabag and Republic initiative group, are unknown even for them," Azadlig Party Chairman Ahmad Oruj told Trend on Feb. 6.

"The movement comprises those who are under government's control, undermine Azerbaijan's position in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as well as partook in visit to Armenia, earlier cooperated with state and later were dismissed," he said.

Political forces represented in the Movement for Karabakh and Republic intend to turn the new formed referendum agitation group into a new opposition union. Therefore, a proposal was put forward to invite the opposition Azerbaijan National Independence Party (ANIP) and Union For Democracy to the Movement.

Oruj said that there is not a common opinion of expanding the movement. "Chairman of one party supports it, while another chairman refuses. Moreover, it is unknown whether they invite others to the Union For Democracy or want to cooperate with its agitation group. If they invite us to the Movement, then they should have regulations basing on which we can express our position," Oruj said.

The movement's parties want to draw attention away from their tragic state by accusing the Union. "We are always prepared to healthy and normal cooperation," the party's chairman said.

Union for Democracy was founded by the opposition Classic Popular Front Party, Azadlig party and National Democracy Party after the 2005 parliamentary election. Great Azerbaijan Party joined the union in early Sept. 2008 and People's Party in Nov. The Union is advisory and cooperation body.

"So far, we could not get reply why our party was not invited to the Movement when it was formed," the ANIP Press Secretary Ali Orujov told Trend on Feb. 6.

Orujov said that the ANIP supports unions which rely on sincere and strategic aims.

"It was decided to cooperate with other political forces at the party's last meeting, Unfortunately, our steps and initiatives remained without reply. Despite this, we support cooperation," Orujov said.

Orujov said that they received an invitation to join the Movement for Garabag and Republic very late and it is necessary to discuss it at the party.

"If the political council does not agree on this issue, nobody will have the right to take part in the movement's events. The political council will divulge its decision concerning the invitation soon," Orujov said.

National Independence Party, founded in 1992, is the first officially registered political party in Azerbaijan. Etibar Mammadov was the founder and chairman of the party until 2004. At present, Mammadov is the deputy chairman of the International Democratic Society.
