Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 12 / Trend , A.Hsuyinbala /
A referendum initiative group established by opposition parties and public organizations now has an office.
"The heads of political and public organizations who founded the group will work at the office," Chairman of the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan (DPA) Sardar Jalaloglu told Trend on Feb. 12.
Azerbaijan will hold a referendum on March 18 to amend 29 articles of the Constitution.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) registered the ruling New Azerbaijan Party's (NAP) initiative group and the City, Taraggi, Law and Democracy and Civil Society, For Sustainable Development, Intelligence, Republicans and Movement for Republic and Karabakh initiative groups. The Prosperous Village, Free Speech, Azerbaijani People's Republic and National Unity groups failed to pass registration.
Precinct election commissions registered 124 initiative groups.
The Constitution was adopted in 1995. Amendments and additions were made in 2002.
A working group was launched at the group's meeting today.
The group also discussed procedures to stage rallies in Baku and the regions.
"We will publish our articles in governmental newspapers and use the free air time allocated by the Public Television station efficiently," Jalaloglu said.
