Man accused of assault on Georgian internal minister sentenced to two months imprisonment before trial

Georgian court sentenced Koba Melikidze, who accused of assault on Internal Minister Vano Merbishvili to two months of imprisonment before trial.

According to city court, Melikidze charged on the Article 236, implying illegal acquisition and possession of firearms, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices.

On May 5 Georgian Internal Ministry disseminated information about the possible assassination attempt on the Internal Minister Meribishvili and thanked the former Georgian Defense Minister Georgy Karkarashvili for the information provided about the upcoming assault.

On the basis of this information the attempt assault on Minister Merabishvili was prevented.
