Presence of the NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop de Scheffer in Kazakhstan points to deepening cooperation between NATO and Astana, Scheffer told reporters at the third forum of the Euro-Atlantic partnership Council in Astana.
"My presence here today means that cooperation between NATO and Kazakhstan is deepening," he said.
NATO Secretary General held full round of talks with Kazakhstan in Astana, met with the Kazakh president and government members.
"We identified out common views," Scheffer said.
He said NATO does not compete with other states or organizations.
"Kazakhstan is an independent state which should independently decide with whom to be," Scheffer said.
