U.S California State Assembly member Bob Blumenfield sent an official letter to the Azerbaijani consulate-general in Los Angeles. In his letter, Blumenfield thanked the Azerbaijani president for the visit of Israeli President Shimon Peres to Azerbaijan paid on June 28-29, AzerTAj state news agency reported.
Inviting the Israeli leader to Azerbaijan, President Aliyev demonstrated his commitment to peace in the Middle East and the principles of tolerance and pluralism, Blumenfield wrote in his letter.
"As I know, these values were reflected in daily life in Azerbaijan. Jews, in your secular society, enjoy equal suffrage and religious rights as other citizens do", the letter says.
Blumenfield applied to the diplomatic representation with a request to convey his sincere appreciation to President Aliyev, saying that he heartily welcomes the Azerbaijani leader's invitation to the Israeli leader to visit Baku.
