Azerbaijan, Baku, September 28 / Trend , A.Huseynbala /

The head of the office of Azerbaijan's Parliament does not exclude discussions over the bill on the status of ex-president during the autumn session.

"Work on this project continues. If the project is completed by the end of the year, it will be submitted to the Parliament for discussion during the autumn session. Even if the bill passes, this status can be applied to not all of the three former presidents of Azerbaijan. Now a criminal case has been filed with regards to one of them and he is in research. Unless this issue is resolved, the status for them is impossible," Safa Mirzayev, chief of the office of the Parliament, told reporters on September 28.

The additions and changes to the Constitution of Azerbaijan through a referendum held on March 18 also envisage granting the status of ex-president. For this purpose, it is necessary to prepare and adopt a new bill in the Parliament.

Some time ago, head of the opposition Great Establishment Party, MP Fazil Mustafa, prepared and submitted to the office of the Parliament a bill on the status of ex-president.

According to Mirzayev, if the accusations against former president Ayaz Mutallibov are not removed, according to the Azerbaijani legislation, the status of ex-president for him will be impossible.
