Azerbaijan's Republic Day celebrated in New York City (UPDATE)(PHOTO)

A series of events was held in New York, to mark the 92 th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic - the Republic Day, says a press release of the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the UN.
May 24 the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the UN held an official banquet in New York, which was attended by representatives of the leadership of the UN, the heads of permanent missions of UN member states, representatives of the Azerbaijani community in the U.S. and Permanent Mission staff.
May 27 members of the diplomatic corps accredited to New York sent congratulatory letters to the Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the UN Agshin Mehdiyev with best wishes to the leadership and people of the country.
May 28 Republic Day was celebrated in New York City by the raising of the Azerbaijan national flag on Broadway in lower Manhattan, the statement of Azerbaijan Society of America says.
The event was organized by the head of ASA Tomris Azeri.
Speakers included, Tofiq Musayev of the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the United Nations, who spoke about the solidarity between the United States and Azerbaijan and talked about the importance of May 28.
The ceremony was attended by Consul Ayse Uzer of Turkey, Deputy Consul General of Israel, Benjamin Krasna, head of protocol from the office of New York Governor Michele Clarke-Ceres.
Kavkaz JYC with Director Luba Yusupov children dance troupe dressed up in beautiful Azerbaijani costumes brought so much attention from the crowd.
Following the playing of the American National anthem, the Azerbaijani National anthem was played and the two flags were hoisted.
