There are many Georgian historical monuments abroad, and they should be protected, the Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, who is on an official visit to Romania told journalists.

He said these monuments are the foundation of the country's stability, and therefore it's necessary rightly see Georgia's history and pass it to future generations.

"Our monuments are under threat of destruction in Turkey due to the simple reason that execution of the agreement was delayed over the years due to various bureaucratic procedures, we must expedite the process. We have no right to lose our history. In this regard, the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Culture were instructed and we intend to work seriously on this issue," Saakashvili said.
