Azerbaijan, Baku, July 9 / Trend E.Tariverdiyeva /
An EU delegation will make a presentation on two main themes - economics and humanitarian and social issues - during talks with Azerbaijan on an association agreement in mid-July, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev told Trend.
The talks to conclude the association agreement will begin July 16.
An Azerbaijani delegation will be led by Mammadguliyev and EU South Caucasus Department Director John Kjaer.
Kjaer's department operates under the European Neighborhood Policy, and covers Eastern European and South Caucasus countries, particularly Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Belarus and Ukraine.
The agenda of the negotiations includes an exchange of views, Mammadguliyev said. The talks are a significant aspect of developing political dialogue between the Azerbaijan and the EU, and strengthening cooperation on security issues, Mammadguliyev said.
So far, Azerbaijan has cooperated with the EU on the basis of a partnership agreement. The signing of an association agreement would facilitate free trade and the free movement of citizens.
