Sumgait, Ludwigshafen launch new project

A new project was launched between Sumgait and Ludwigshafen with the support of the German Technical Cooperation Society (GTZ).
Today the Sumgait City Executive Power head Vasif Aliyev received a delegation from the German city of Ludwigshafen. Aliyev spoke about the strengthening of friendship ties in recent years, which link Sumgait and Ludwigshafen for 33 years, and the cities' mutual benefit from joint projects, Sumgait City Executive Power said.
Aliyev said that with the support of the German experts Sumgait successfully implements important projects, and the city successfully implemented activities in the economic field, as well as in education, health, culture, and in working with young people in the period from 2002 to 2009.
Head of German delegation, technical director of Ludwigshafen's municipal economy Peter Lubenau informed that with the support of the GTZ a new project - "Program of support for development of local control in the South Caucasus" is launched in 2010. Within the new program eight cities of Germany and the Southern Caucasus will cooperate in total. Activities in the field of community services, rehabilitation of contaminated areas, water and sewer systems management, environmental awareness, as well advisory activities for the support of the local economy will be carried out with the participation of Sumgayit and Ludwigshafen. Also, efforts will be made to create an anonymous Centre against drug addiction, and office of services for the population.
At the meeting views were exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
Within the project Sumgait organized three international conferences in 2005, 2007 and 2010, the public was informed about the undertaken works.
