The OSCE / ODIHR observer mission monitoring the upcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan will include 45 U.S. citizens, U.S. Embassy spokesman Keith Bean told Trend.

Moreover, 31 embassy representatives will monitor the elections in different regions, he said.

The OSCE / ODIHR long-term observation mission began working in Azerbaijan in late September. It is headed by Ambassador Audrey Glover. In 2008, she headed the OSCE / ODIHR observation mission during the U.S. presidential election.

The parliamentary elections are scheduled for Nov. 7. According to a list submitted to the Central Election Commission, Azerbaijan has roughly 5 million voters living in the country.

Parliamentary elections were last held in November 2005. The elections are held by the majority system in 125 electoral constituencies.
