Azerbaijan's Ambassador to UN meets Guyana Foreign Minister

Azerbaijan's Ambassador to the UN Agshin Mehdiyev during his visit to Guyana on Thursday has met with the Foreign Minister Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett , a press-release by the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the UN said.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations, expanding cooperation and improving legal base for it.
Mehdiyev spoke about the ongoing reforms in the country, its achievements and the situation in the region.
Permanent representative drew Rodrigues-Birkett's attention to the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and Azerbaijan's position on the issue. Mehdiyev expressed satisfaction that the Organization of Islamic Conference, of which Azerbaijan and Guyana are members , definitely condemned the Armenia's aggressive occupation policy.
At the meeting both sides stressed the importance of continuing consultations to bring closer the positions of the two countries in international organizations on issues of interest, importance and principle and holding high-level meetings on a regular basis.
