Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 7 / Trend T.Hajiyev /

The Azerbaijani Opposition Union for Democracy has created an Assembly, said Ahmed Oruj, chairman of the Azadlig Party, which is also represented in the Union.

"The Union is managed by the Board of Chairmen. It was decided to create an Assembly for broader cooperation, which will include party leaders and members of the Union. Each party will be allocated a quota in the assembly, under which the parties would send their representatives," Oruj said.

Committees will be created under the assembly, with the formation of a new structure being considered a step towards portraying the Union as a unified team.

Union for Democracy was founded by the opposing Classic Popular Front Party, Azadlig Party and National Democracy Party after 2005 parliamentary elections. Great Azerbaijan Party joined the union in early Sept. 2008 and People's Party in November the same year. The union is an advisory and cooperation body.
