Russia's mediation efforts in resolving Palestinian-Israeli conflict not to give any results
Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 18 /Trend, R.Hafizoglu/
Russia's mediation efforts in resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict will not give any results, a member of Knesset from the Arab bloc 'National Democratic Union',
Hanin Zoabi, told Trend on Tuesday.
"To solve this problem, firstly the political forces inside Palestine must come to a single position on the issue of an independent state," said Zoabi.
According to her, Russia's recognition of independence of a Palestinian state will not seriously affect the negotiation process on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
"Even if Russia, which has always supported the peaceful course of negotiations, recognizes the independence of Palestine, it will not solve the issue, since now the goal of the Palestinians is not to achieve recognition of a Palestinian state in the world, but to liberate its occupied territories," said Zoabi.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said Tuesday that the establishment of a Palestinian state is beneficial for the whole Middle East.
"All - Palestinians and Israelis, the region, all the peoples of the Middle East will benefit from appearance of a Palestinian state," Medvedev said to a press conference in Jericho after talks with Palestinian National Authority head Mahmoud Abbas.
