An employee of the Azerbaijani embassy in Egypt was killed in Cairo on Saturday as a result of mass public disorders in this country.

"As a result of tense situation in Cairo last Saturday Nijat Gojayev, who worked as an accountant for the embassy, was killed," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry informed quoting Azerbaijani Ambassador to Egypt Shahin Abdullayev as saying.

Egypt's law-enforcement bodies are investigating the case.

A special airliner is being sent to Cairo at Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's decree to evacuate the Azerbaijani citizens who are currently in Egypt, as well as the dead body, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokesman Elkhan Polukhov told Trend.

All necessary technical preparations are being undertaken to implement the flight. Azerbaijani embassy in Egypt is taking every action for secure evacuation of Azerbaijani citizens from this country, Polukhov said.
As many as 70 Azerbaijani citizens were residing and studying in Egypt.
Popular protests continued in all major cities of Egypt despite the statement voiced by President Hosni Mubarak. The Egyptian leader said that he supports the free will of the people and the right to demonstrate. However, he noted that in some cases the demonstrators passed the legal boundaries.

The manifestations with the requirements of conducting economic and political reforms and the resignation of 82-year old President Hosni Mubarak, ruling the country for 30 years, were launched in Egypt on January 25. On Friday, the mass protests continued in Cairo and other Egyptian cities. Roughly 100 people died, more than 2000 injured.
