The Azerbaijani parliament has sent a letter of protest to the European parliament in connection with a resolution.
"We are well aware that democracy is not only of an institutional nature, but must appear in the consciousness," he said. "There are countries in the region with more human rights violations than those stressed in the resolution."
The European parliament adopted a critical resolution on the human rights and democracy situation in Azerbaijan on May 12.
Everyone knows European countries take measures to curb attempts to organize illegal rallies, he said.
The appeal was prepared by a special commission of the Azerbaijani parliament.
The commission is headed by MP Valeh Alasgarov. It consists of MPs Azay Guliyev, Ali Huseynli, Faraj Guliyev, Asim Mollazade, Ayten Mustafayeva and Samad Seyidov.
