The UN resolution affirms unequivocal support for Georgia, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze told journalists.
She said that aside from support for Georgia, the resolution also affirms the principles of international law, implies the unconditional and dignified return of refugees to their homes, and property rights.
The UN General Assembly voted for a resolution on the status of IDPs and refugees from Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region on June 29.
Georgia's Permanent Representative to the UN Alexander Lomaia told journalists that 57 countries voted for this decision - seven countries more than last year.
"This is an absolute success of Georgia," Lomaia said.
The adopted document envisages the safe return of IDPs and their descendants from Abkhazia and South Ossetia, regardless of ethnicity.
