The Azerbaijan- Russia relations are progressing, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said at a joint press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow on Monday, the Russia 24 television channel reported. This is largely linked with the intense contact of the two presidents.

"We are preparing for the new Baku Humanitarian Forum, which provides very interesting opportunities for interaction between representatives of our countries and discussion of all those painful problems," he said.

Russia highly appreciates the Azerbaijani government's efforts to preserve and develop the Russian culture and language in Azerbaijan. "We discussed holding of the next international forum in October," Lavrov said.

"We discussed preparations for the next Baku International Humanitarian Forum, which will be held in October under the patronage of the two presidents," he said.

The parties also talked about how the Azerbaijani and Russian delegations cooperate in international formats such as the UN, OSCE, Council of Europe and the CIS.

"I believe that the talks were very successful and useful," Lavrov said.
