Georgia, Tbilisi, 22 September /Trend corr. N. Kirtskhalia/

The upper chamber of the European Court of Human Rights on Thursday will consider a claim of Georgia against Russia, which was received August 12, 2008 and reads the infringement of Russian troops on the lives and property of civilians of Georgian regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

As the website of the European Court reports, the complaint alleges a violation of Art. 2 (right to life), 3 (prohibition of torture and degrading treatment), 5 (right to liberty), 8 (respect for private and family life), 13 (high quality legal assistance) of the European Convention on Human Rights, as well as Art. 1 (protection of property) to the protocol number 1 and 2 (freedom of movement) to the record number 4.

The next day, after a complaint, Chief Judge urged both sides to comply with the Convention. The Russian side argues that the complaint is groundless and that the above mentioned facts have not been established.
