We worry about activity of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Turkey, Chairman of the Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with Religious Associations Hidayat Orujov said at a meeting with Turkish Religious Affairs Minister Mehmet Gormez, who is on official visit to Baku, on Friday.
Orujov said Azerbaijan takes the activity of religious associations in Turkey as an example.
Turkish Air Forces conducted air strikes in northern Iraq to destroy the PKK's bases, as a result of which more than 300 militants were killed. Turkish Armed Forces Staff will continue to carefully pursue separatist activity in northern Iraq. Air strikes will continue if new targets are revealed.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK has continued for more than 25 years, claiming over 40,000 lives. The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by both the UN and the EU.
