Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 10 / Trend E. Mehdiyev /
Allocating the state funds to political parties in Azerbaijan is a worthy fact, deputy executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, MP Mubariz Gurbanli told the website of the ruling New Azerbaijan party today.
"The parties' experience of receiving funds from the state budget is also observed in other countries," he said. "Improving socio-economic opportunities in Azerbaijan allows the allocation of funds to political parties from the state budget."
He said that some 2.5 million manat allocated from the state budget will support the development of political parties and be used for the parties' current expenses.
The relevant legislation specifies funding sources of political parties, he added. So, along with state assistance, this includes membership fees and donations received from different sources.
"From this point of view, funds allocated from the state budget will not suspend the collection of membership fees," he said. "The funds allocated by the state will be used in the current terms to pay for political parties' current expenses."
He said that New Azerbaijan Party as the country's leading party is able to pay its financial expenditure.
"Our party will use public funds in a manner consistent with the legislation," he said. "I believe that other political parties must spend the funds allocated from the state budget for the things useful for society besides their development."
