Germany's national holiday, the Day of German Unity was celebrated in Baku on Thursday.
Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Economic Development Niyazi Safarov congratulated the German government and people on behalf of the Azerbaijani government and people on this historic day.

"It is important for Azerbaijan to cooperate with Germany which is one of the most powerful countries of the European Union," Safarov said. "The dynamics of developing recent relations is encouraging."

According to him, Azerbaijan and Germany signed 67 documents regulating bilateral relations. Over 30 are aimed at economic cooperation.

Safarov said trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Germany totalled $1.4 billion for nine months of this year, or by 10 per cent more compared to the same period of last year.

He added that financial and technical cooperation between the two countries is also at a high level. According to him, around 167 companies with German investments are operating in Azerbaijan.

Safarov expressed confidence that mutual relations will continue developing as a result of more effort.
