BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 22. Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Fariz Rzayev paid a working visit to Finland from May 20 through May 21, 2022, Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry told Trend.
Meetings were held with Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto, First Vice Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Antti Rinne, Diplomatic Adviser to the President of Finland Petri Hakkarainen and State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Matti Anttonen, during the visit.
The importance of the visit on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Finland and the cultural events planned on the occasion was discussed during the meetings.
Sides also discussed the current state of bilateral relations and prospects for further development, noted the existing potential, in particular, in the spheres of education and economy, exchanged views on post-conflict processes in the South Caucasus, regional and international issues.
The processes of normalization in South Caucasus in the post-conflict period, also topical international and regional issues were analyzed during the round tables with the leaders and researchers of the Finnish Institute of International Affairs (FIIA) and Crisis Management Initiative (CMI) - Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation, the position of Azerbaijan was brought to the attention of the interlocutors.
Concert by Isfar Sarabski's jazz trio and a diplomatic reception were held at the Musiikkitalo Palace in Helsinki with the participation of Deputy Minister Fariz Rzayev and Deputy Foreign Minister Nina Vaskunlahti on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Finland, as part of the visit.
