BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. The ruling party of French Polynesia, Tavini Huiraatira, intends to strengthen cooperation with the Baku Initiative Group, party member Cliff Loussan said, Trend reports.
"The purpose of our visit is to strengthen cooperation between the Baku Initiative Group and Tavini Huiraatira. We are interested in acquiring the experience of the Baku Initiative Group. Our goal is to ensure the full sovereignty and independence of our country," Loussan said.
He also called for combating misinformation regarding France's neocolonial policies.
“We need to be attentive to the information that is disseminated in the media and verify the information received,” Loussan said.
The visit of heads and secretaries of the Commission of the Parliament of French Polynesia (Mā'OHI Nui - in the local language), as well as senior staff of the ruling Tavini (Tavini Huiraatira) party to Azerbaijan, started on May 29.
The purpose of the four-day visit is to consider the possibility of establishing inter-parliamentary, economic, and humanitarian cooperation between Azerbaijan and French Polynesia, as well as cooperation in science, education, sports, health, and other spheres.
The visit of the delegation of French Polynesia took place at the invitation of the Baku Initiative Group, working in the field of combating colonialism and its new manifestations in the 21st century.
The visit was organized following the provisions of the Cooperation Agreement signed between the Baku Initiative Group and the Tavini Party within the framework of the international conference “Liberation from Colonialism: Consequences of Assimilation and its Impact on the Realization of Human Rights” organized by the Baku Initiative Group on April 30 this year at the UN Office in Vienna.
To note, the Tavini party has been fighting for the independence of French Polynesia for many years.
