BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 11. The next meeting of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan is being held under the chairmanship of Mazahir Panahov, a source from the CEC told Trend.
The commission discussed the approval of the protocol from its September 10, 2024, meeting and addressed several received complaints.
During the session, CEC invalidated the results from two polling stations in response to a protest from a Lankaran Rural Electoral District No. 78 candidate about the September 1 parliamentary election.
The CEC found vote counting anomalies at polling stations 28 and 32, which could affect election results. Thus, the commission annulled these stations' vote results.
The proposal was put to a vote and received approval.
Additionally, CEC's meeting took a look at an appeal from an MP candidate hailing from Nasimi-Yasamal constituency No. 22 regarding the parliamentary election.
The meeting noted that during the proceedings, violations were identified during the counting of votes at polling stations No. 2, 14, and 20 of the district, which could affect the election results, and the voting results should be annulled.
The meeting drove home the point that the cancellation of election results in three precincts didn’t throw a wrench in the works for the overall results in the district.
