FOREIGN MINISTER OF AZERBAIJAN TO SPEAK AT CARNEGY FOUNDATION

Today, on 4 August 2005, the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov will speak at the Carnegy Foundation, Trend reports.

It should be reminded, that on 3 August Mammadyarov would speak at the Azerbaijani Trade and Culture Centre in front of the members of the American- Azerbaijani Trade Chamber with the speech on the progress of the economic transformations in Azerbiajan.

Also in the framework of the Azerbaijan’s Foreign Policy head’s visit to Washington his talks with the US State Secretary Condoleezza Rice and the OSCE Minsk group American co-chair Steven Mann took place.

Elmar Mammadyarov addressing the journalists after the meeting with Rice voiced deep satisfaction in regard to discussions, having noted, that the USA, as the OSCE Minsk group co-chair, promised to intensify their efforts for the quickest peaceful settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The American side’s position on the issue is unchangeable: Washington is the supporter of the territorial integrity principle for the conflict solution.

Elmar Mammadyarov said: the subject of the democracy develoment was also touched upon during the talks, and the American side expressed its wish to see more advancement in this field. It was also dwelt upon the economic projects and the sides noted satisfactorily the implementation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) and Baku-Tbilisi-Erserum projects.

The working visit of the head of the Azerbaijan’s FM ’s head to the USA will be completed on 5 August.
