The structure is one of the 7 main committees of the Assembly, and Yashar Aliyev will perform these duties during the 60-th session of the UN General Assembly.

Discussion of a wide range of global political problems, including obtaining sovereignty by states and people under the colonial dependence, use of cosmic space for peaceful goals, displacement of peace-keeping forces in conflict areas would take place in the 4-th committee.

Aliyev himself stated, chairmanship in the 4-th committee of the UN General Assembly is a direct continuation of those appointments he performed up to now in various UN structures. The diplomat reminded, in the 59-th session he took the post of the deputy chairman of the UNO economic and social Council.

В"All this proves ever growing international image of Azerbaijan”, Aliyev noted, saying that committee chairmen are, according to their status, the Organization Board members, which will enable to influence the formation and the course of the agenda of UN General Assembly 60-th session.
