Мaherram Aliyev: Unsanctioned oppositionists’ rally failed

The Azadlig bloc’s unauthorized rally did not take place, the head of the Baku City Chief Police Department (BCCPD) Maharram Aliyev said in a statement to journalists on 18 December, Trend reports.

According to him, the number of the rally’s participants was scanty and only 15-20 people tried to hold the action of protest but “have been removed” from the square in front of the Narimanov cinema. On the question, whether the protestors have been detained, the head of BCCPD reported, he possesses no information on their arrest, although he has not ruled out that some people have been detained and moved off the action venue. He noted, the police seek always “everything to be settled peacefully and calmly”.

Aliyev reported also, the venues announced for possible actions of protest by the opposition are under our control. В"I think, we will finish on it today”, he said.
