Drinking water in Baku meets international standards  Azersu JSC

Drinking water supplied to Baku meets international standards which is proved by daily checks experts perform in 50-60 locations of Azerbaijans capital, reportedly said Nizameddin Rzayev, president of Azersu JSC.

Rzayev said Azersu operates several labs that make an analysis of drinking water on daily basis. В"I can say for sure that although there are 2,400 km of water lines in Baku, and some 60-70 percent of these lines exceeded their operation life, the water supplied to Baku meets international quality standardsВ", - Rzayev said.

Alongside, he said, according to the plan Azerbaijans capital will be provided with counter till the end of 2007. В"We already installed 36,000 counter in 2005 and we will install 50k this yearВ", Rzayev added.

As to the prices for counters, Rzayev said governmental agencies licensed several companies to sell these counters. President said these are local and foreign companies and the price for counters depends on maker; besides, the government decided to install counters at consumers cost.

Alongside, Rzayev said Azersus consumers total 880k, from which 860k are dwellers.
