Azerbaijan`s State Maritime Administration has prepared and already submitted the three international conventions in the field of sea transport - On Simplification of International Navigation, On Salvation Offshore, On Seamen`s Identification Cards to the Parliament of the country for further consideration, Gudrat Gourbanov, Head of the Administration exclusively told Trend today.
According to him, the inspectors of the Administration have checked 24 tankers and dry cargo vessels for the purpose of adequacy of international conventions and navigation
safety regulations and reexamined 202 vessels going under the flag of the country in the Baku International Sea Trade port, the ports of Dubandi and Sangachal.
The main tasks of the Maritime Administration are realization of Azerbaijan`s maritime policy and implementation of requirements of the international conventions ratified by the country, the resolutions and other decisions of the International Maritime Organization, as well as regulation of issues connected with the implementation of the above-mentioned conventions both internationally and domestically.
Mr. Gourbanov pointed out that Azerbaijan is the only Republic of FSU which could not only keep but increase its state fleet. The geography of the vessels of the Transport and Trade and Specialized Fleets of Azerbaijan is not limited only with the Caspian Sea. The vessels going under the flag of Azerbaijan Republic are carrying out their activity behind the Caspian. These are The Black, Mediterranean, Baltic Seas, the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.
