Azeri Consular General to Saint-Petersburg Met with Azerbaijanis in Wholesale Market

The Azerbaijani Consular General to Saint-Petersburg, Gudsi Osmanov, informed Trend that he met with the Azerbaijanis working in the wholesale market. He said that during the meeting, information was presented about the order of the Azerbaijan President dated November 22, 2006, On resolving the problems of the Azerbaijani citizens engaged in commerce in the territory of Russia. In addition, information was provided on what problems can face the Azerbaijanis residing without registration, on measures that will be taken from January 1 to April 1, 2007, and how it is possible to get into registration. The Azerbaijanis expressed their satisfaction with the order of the president. Unfortunately, 35% of the Azerbaijanis are living here illegally. The Consulate General has allocated lawyers to assist in the legal aspects of the registration. They provide necessary assistance to the Azerbaijanis in resolving the problems with the registration and explain necessary questions, the Consular General said.

Osmanov said that the meetings will also take place in other regions of Saint-Petersburg where Azerbaijanis live. According to him, many Azerbaijanis work in Sofia market near Saint-Petersburg. Therefore, the next meeting will be organized in this market.

Osmanov said that the National-Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijan and other Diaspora organization are working jointly with the Consulate General in all measures.
