Turkey to Receive in 2008 Analogical Gas Volumes to Be Passed to Georgia in 2007

Turan Moranli, Turkey's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, who is completing his diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan, has told journalists today that Turkey is about to compensate in 2008 the gas volumes to be passed to Georgia in 2007 at the expense of the Turkish share in the project on the development of Azerbaijani offshore gas condensate field Shahdaniz. Trend reports

According to the Turkish diplomat, due to Georgia's exigency in gas, discussions and negotiations have been held at the highest political levels. During them, agreements that the Turkish share from the initial gas volumes to be received from Shahdaniz field at the volume of 800 mln. cubic meters is to be passed to the Georgian party. However, in exchange, Turkey will receive the analogical gas volumes to be received from Shahdaniz in 2006 due to the forecast increase in the gas production from the field. Mr. Moranli said that the issue on the gas price to be passed to Georgia had not been discussed and that it had remained the subject of the negotiations on a technical level.

Notably, Mr. Moranli will depart for Ireland from Baku on January 4, 2007. The Turkish diplomat will continue his diplomatic mission in this cpuntry. The new Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan will launch his activity in the country starting from January 15, 2007.
