Saffet Karakhisarli, the Governor of the Turkish Province of Igdir, informed journalists that the Turkish party would be only glad if Azerbaijan would support the construction of an airport in Igdir, Trend reports. According to him, the airport has been constructed by 50%, but, due to the shortage of finances, the construction was suspended. According to the Turkish Governor, the construction and putting into operation of the Airport in Igdir could be of interest to the Azerbaijan Authorities, and that would trigger broader enhancing in trade and economic relations between the two countries. According to Mr. Karakhisarli, Igdir may become a transit point for Azerbaijanis visiting the other Turkish provinces and vice-versa. He expressed his satisfaction with the activity of the Consulate General of Azerbaijan to the Turkish Province of Kars, which is responsible for Azerbaijan developing relations with Igdir.

The Consulate General is carrying out very necessary work, and we appeal to it and solve issues jointly if necessary, said Mr. Karakhisarli.
