Minister: Belarusian Specialists May Assist in Developing Defense Industry of Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend I.Khalilova / The Ministry of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan and State Committee for Military Industry of Belarus drew up plans for the co-operation. The Minister of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan, Yaver Jamalov, said that the co-operation was established after the visit of the Azerbaijani delegation headed by the Minister of Defense Industry to Minsk on 10-14 July 2006.
According to him, during the visit, the specialists of Azerbaijan got familiarized with the defense and industrial complexes of Belarus. The State Committee for Military Industry already takes several measures in the Azerbaijani enterprises.
The Defense Industry Ministry intends to exchange experience with regard to the methods of monitoring of the radio radar installations. It is intended to create an automotive system for monitoring of the situation of the territory in the base of land transport means and aircrafts, including pilotless apparatus.
Azerbaijan will be provided assistance in radiation control and monitoring of the objects of environment, personnel and population, delivery of the equipments for discovering measuring and identifying nuclear and physical parameters, etc.
According to Jamalov, the Government of Azerbaijan intends to increase the budget for the defense industry over the next years. AZN 85 mln is intended to be allocated for this purpose in 2007.
