Azerbaijan, Baku / Т corr S. Ilhamghizi / Vugar Baituran, the Chairman of the "Bizim Azerbaycan" bloc ("Our Azerbaijan"), has voiced his disagreement against the formation of a block under the same name to be formed by several parties, which had left the block or had been expelled.
The Chairman of the Islam Democratic Party (former member of the bloc), Tahir Abbasli, noted that four parties had merged in order to restore the activities of "Bizim Azerbaycan". According to Mr. Abbasli, the Islamic Democratic Party, "Green" Party, and "Yeni Turan" ("New Turan"'), People Liberation party ("Khalg Azadlig") and National Trust ("Milli Etimad") have intensions to function under the political bloc named "Bizim Azerbaycan".
In his turn, Mr. Bayturan noted that the "Bizim Azerbaycan" bloc kept on its political activity, by adding that eight parties still enter it. According to him, in December, 2006, the People Liberation party ("Khalg Azadlig")and Islamic Democratic Party were expelled from the political bloc, but the National Trust Party ("Milli Etimad") had been neither the founder nor party to the bloc after the political bloc was restored in a new content. According to Mr. Bayturan, the "Green" Party and "Yeni Turan" had noted that they had been not aware of the issue. "The parties, which are not represented or expelled from the bloc cannot speak in the name of the bloc and cannot restore it, in particular. "Such statements blow on the authority and political activity of the bloc," he added.
Elmar Gafarov, the Chairman of the "Green" Party, noted that the parties, which were represented in the bloc, were looking for new ways for uniting, and the foundation of a new political movement in the country was in the agenda. However, he said that he was not an adherent of the foundation of the second political bloc under the very name - "Bizim Azerbaycan" ("Our Azerbaijan"), and therefore he did not take part in this process.
Notably, Bloc "Bizim Azerbaycan" was founded in 2003 to support the candidacy of Isa Gambar, the Chairman of an opposition party, "Musavat" during the presidential elections held in the very year. Then, "Musavat" and some other opposition parties left the bloc. Today, a total of 10 parties comprise the mentioned political bloc.
