Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend E.Huseynov / Joseph Wood, the Deputy Assistant to the US Vice President Dick Cheney national security is arriving in Baku on 29 May.
Johthan Henick, the Head of the Public Relations Department of the US Embassy in Baku, announced that Wood is responsible for the Eurasian region. He will discuss in Baku different issues, including the situation in Azerbaijan. During the two-day visit he will have talks with the Azerbaijani officials, while the agenda of the visit is yet to be defined.
Wood will arrive in Baku from Tbilisi. The US Embassy in Georgia has announced that during his visit he had meetings with the Georgian President, Mikhael Saakashvili, the Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli, as well as the Minister for Economic Development, the Foreign Minister, the Deference Minister, MPs and representatives of the civil society. The meetings focused on Georgia's contribution to the conduct of armed operations in Iraq, support to Georgia's integration into NATO and democratic reforms held within this country, the Embassy announced.
