Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Ilhamgizi / There are some 23,000 municipality employees in Azerbaijan, according to an expert of the Azerbaijan Civil Society Promotion Association, the chief editor of Municipality.az, Vugar Tofigli.
The researches held by Municipality.az revealed that 32% of the funds earned by municipalities go to salaries of municipality personnel.
Comparing 2002, the salaries of municipality employees increased from AZN 18.5 to AZN 42. Thus, in 2003 it made AZN 16.8, in 2004 - AZN 20.4, in 2005 - AZN 25, and in 2006 - AZN 35. During the first half year of 2007 salaries of local government personnel increased by 13%. In Baku municipalities it is 2-fold higher.
As for salaries of the administration of the municipalities, chairmen of Baku municipalities get AZN 180, and the chairmen of province local governments AZN 76.
