Azerbaijan Holds 2,246 Police Officers Accountable

Huseynli / Twenty-eight police officers were dismissed in internal affairs bodies of Azerbaijan in the first half of 2007 due to contraventions, Azerbaijani Interior Minister, Ramil Usubov reported at a press conference on 25 July before a collegial meeting of the Interior Ministry dedicated to the results of the first half of 2007.
According to the Minister, 2,246 police employees were held accountable in administrative orders during the aforementioned period. Usubov noted that compared to the same period of 2006 the number of contraventions by police officers decreased by 4.8%.
The Minister noted that a poll taken by the Interior Ministry revealed that 60% of the population is satisfied with the activities of Azerbaijani police.
