Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Discusses Energy Security in Georgia

Georgia, Tbilisi / Тrend corr N. Kirtskhalia / The Georgian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers discussed the regional and energy security in Batumi, Georgia on 27 August.

The Ministers, Elmar Mammadyarov and Gela Bezhuashvili, stressed the strategic character of the relationships between the two countries, according to the Georgian Foreign Ministry.

The parties also viewed the positive dynamics of the bilateral relationships and the prospect for intensification of regional co-operation, also within the framework of GUAM and the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP). The Ministers noted close and counterpart relationships between the two ministries.

On 26-28 August, Bezhuashvili is receiving his Azerbaijani counterpart, who is paying a working visit to Batumi. The Georgian Minister informed his guest of the revival process within the country, was shown the Batumi seaside - Sarpi, the Gonio-Apsarosi fortress, the Nobel Museum and other sights, according to Georgian Foreign Ministry.

Earlier Bezhuasvili noted that he had intentions to illustrate Georgia's tourism potential to his Azerbaijani counterpart in order to get Azerbaijani citizens interested in Ajaria.

Azerbaijani and Georgian Foreign Ministers, Elmar Mammadyarov and Gela Bezhuashvili, will coordinate the relationship for further consultations on remaining conflicts within the framework of the UN General Assembly's 62nd session to be held in New-York in September, the spokesman for Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry, Khazar Ibrahim, reported at briefing on 27 August.

According to Ibrahim, during the visit, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister met with representatives of Azerbaijani community.
