Azerbaijani Teachers to Get Salaries on European Standards – Minister
Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / The salaries of Azerbaijani teachers will be increased and correspond the European standards in the near future, Misir Mardanov, the Education Minister of Azerbaijan, said during the meeting in the Azerbaijani State Oil Academy.
"Azerbaijani teachers will get salaries as it is in European countries," the Minister said.
The minister said that scholarships of students would also rise.
Today the average salary of teachers in the country made up AZN 125 ($140).
The average salary of teachers in Germany made up $43,000, some $45,000 in France and $70,000 in Switzerland. The state of teachers in East Europe is different.
There are 160,000 teachers in Azerbaijan. However, there is a teacher shortage in some remote regions of the country. University graduators refuse to work in remote regions.
