( dpa )- Pop singer Britney Spears was released from a psychiatric ward at the UCLA Medical Center Wednesday after nearly a week of treatment, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The troubled pop star left the hospital escorted by a private security detail and was headed to an unknown location.
Her hospitalization last week came amid a flurry of legal moves that saw a restraining order slapped on her unofficial manager Sam Lufti who was accused by Spears' mother of drugging her to gain control of her estate. Spears' father was named as her conservator in her custody hearings to regain visitation rights to her two toddlers which have been suspended.
