Religious Muslims of Abu Bakr Mosque Ask Sheik to Help Them

Azerbaijan, Baku, 6 November/ Trend , corr I. Alizade/ Community of religious Muslims of Narimanov district of Baku have asked Haji Allahshukur Pashazade, chief of Caucasus Muslims Clerical Board to assist in opening of Abu Bakr mosque.

"We appealed to sheik of all Muslims to help to restore justice, to help stop persecution, to protect Muslims and to open Abu Bakr mosque," said an appeal to Haji Allahshukur Pashazade, chief of Caucasus Muslims Clerical Board.

The blast caused by the hand grenade thrown to Abu Bakr mosque by unknown man at 08:50p.m. on 17 August 2008, killed two and injured 19. The activities of the mosque were suspended after the blast. Elnur Bakhshiyev, of Sumgayit city, charged of committing an act of terrorism in the mosque, has been arrested.

At the end of October, Narimanov District Police Station appealed against the court decision on resuming the activity of Abu Bakr Mosque. The appeal says that it is inexpedient to resume activity of mosque, since they have information that sabotages will be committed at Abu Bakr Mosque.

"Lately, those engaged in Islamophobia stage dirty games around Abu Bakr mosque attempt to occupy mosque's area," the appeal said.

Police Office of Narimanov district of Baku hinder opening of the mosque which contradicts laws of Azerbaijan and international agreements, the appeal said.
