The Azerbaijani Press Council will monitor the conditions that have been created for journalists to observe the referendum.
"The monitoring group will observe the election in Baku and the regions," Press Council Chairman Aflatun Amashov told Trend on March 13. "If journalists have any problems, then we will solve them immediately by appealing to the relevant bodies."
The referendum campaign began on Feb. 18 and will end March 16 at midnight.
Azerbaijan will hold a referendum on March 18 to amend the Constitution.
The CEC registered the New Azerbaijan, Shahar, Tereggi, Huquq Va Demokratiya, Vatandash Jamiyyati, For Long-Term Development, Zaka, Movement For Karabakh and the Republic and Republicans referendum initiative groups. The Abad Kand, Azad Soz, Azerbaijan People's Republic and Milli Istiglal groups failed to pass registration.
The Azerbaijani Constitution was adopted in 1995. Amendments and additions were made in 2002.
The council will organize a hot-line on March 18 for journalists, Amashov said.
